Avets | Our History

Our History

Established in 1994 to provide access to emergency care for pet owners in Western Pennsylvania, Avets was originally known as Allegheny Veterinary Emergency Associates (AVEA), an after-hours veterinary emergency clinic. That changed in 1996 when AVEA transformed into a 24-hour facility offering emergency and critical care. In 2005, AVEA was renamed Avets (Allegheny Veterinary Emergency Trauma & Specialty), as veterinary specialists unique to Western PA were added to the staff and a new, state of the art facility was built.
