Physical Rehabilitation

At Avets, we’re dedicated to helping improve your pet’s quality of life. Rehabilitation is helpful for pain management, improving mobility, conditioning, animals recovering from surgery or suffering from an injury, as well as pets diagnosed with neurological conditions and even obesity. Avets works with Pittsburgh Veterinary Rehabilitation on-site to determine both your long- and short-term goals for care. Your initial consultation includes a review of medical history plus an assessment of current issues and nutrition. Our rehabilitation therapist will then work with you to create a treatment plan customized for your pet’s needs.

Rehabilitation may help if your pet experiences any of the following:

  • Difficulty climbing stairs
  • Having trouble standing up or lying down
  • Limping or favoring a limb
  • Decreased strength, muscle tone, and endurance
  • Reduced interest in play
  • Soreness after exercise
  • Recent surgery or injury
  • Arthritis or joint stiffness
  • Weight management/obesity
  • Frequent use of pain medications

  • Laser therapy
  • Range of motion (ROM) exercises
  • Joint mobilization/stretching
  • Post-surgical exercises
  • Exercises for Daily Home Care & Management
  • Exercises for stretching, range of motion, and flexibility
  • Nutrition Counseling
